Exhibitions    Banksia series

01.05.15 to 05.11.16

Ceramics has a long historical tradition of referencing botanical sources for decoration which is the inspiration for my ceramic vessels. Recent works depict Australian native species, specifically banksias and correas, on hand built vessels.  I often include the bird and insect life observed in Banskia forests and attempt to provide an idea of the plant’s overall habitat. I have become passionately interested in referencing Australia's native environment, particularly at a time when it appears under threat from climate change, bushfire, and our expanding human footprint.  These works were shown @gallerysmith in 2015 and Beaver Galleries in 2014.
